Our focus is clear
We are dedicated to energy
You can get a generalist’s perspective at any firm. We have committed ourselves to delivering the kind of expertise even the experts turn to.
30 years of history
If only wisdom came
without the greys
Ken Baker and John O’Brien founded the company in 1993 to provide independent consulting services to the downstream energy industry. Since then, we have worked on thousands of assignments in matters across the energy supply chain. While hairlines have changed, our founders’ original principles of service, commitment, and integrity are as solid as ever.
Recognized Among the
Best in International Arbitrations
Baker & O'Brien is ranked among the top 20 expert witness firms in Global Arbitration Review’s (GAR) 2024 Expert Witness Firms’ Power Index. Since our founding over 30 years ago, our consultants adhere to two of Baker & O’Brien’s central tenets of unparalleled expertise anchored by our independence to our clients. Our clients have come to expect and rely upon our reputation in high-stakes litigation and international arbitration proceedings.
Complimentary strengths
Working in strategic tandem
Our advisory work keeps us current with industry trends and practices, which enhances our credibility as expert witnesses. Our work on complex disputes gives us unique insights and perspectives, making us better advisors.
Our symbol of partnership
More than the
sum of our parts
While it’s a common feature among law firms, the ampersand for us represents something special. A symbol that started out as a simple expression of partnership between our founders also represents the relationships that we share with our clients.
Industry

Through our affiliations with technical and industry organizations, we stay up-to-date with commercial and technological developments that impact the energy and construction industries.
