Summary of Experience

Alex Hardman has over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with a particular focus on production assets in the Permian Basin, commodity trading, and energy market analysis. He has extensive experience with underground carbon dioxide (CO2) injection, applying his expertise to CO2 and flue gas flood wells in the Permian Basin. His expertise encompasses a deep technical knowledge of the oil and gas production sector, combined with a comprehensive understanding of energy markets and the valuation of production assets.

In his early career, Alex was a trader at Tesoro, involved in options pricing, forward curve development, and hedging strategies. He later transitioned to engineer roles at Occidental, where he specialized in enhanced oil recovery in the Permian Basin. Alex focused on field conformance issues, workover packages, well interventions, and the management of capital projects of fields under his supervision.

Since joining Baker & O’Brien in 2022, Alex continues to leverage his knowledge of both engineering and economics to provide independent expertise for clients. He has contributed to several advisory studies that consider commodity price and refinery margin forecasts, while also contributing to Baker & O’Brien’s PRISMTM and Refinery Billboard services that provide insights into the economics of the refining sector. Alex has assisted clients in the technical review of claims related to commercial terms, accident investigations, and plug and abandonment programs for oilfields. He has also co-authored expert valuation studies of oil and gas production assets in both advisory and dispute matters.
