Summary of Experience

Shawn McDonald has over 30 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, including onshore and offshore oil and gas developments, both domestically and internationally. Shawn has extensive experience in EPC project development from the early appraisal phase through engineering design and execution. He is skilled in project assurance, interface, risk, and change management processes for large-scale oil and gas asset development projects.

Prior to joining Baker & O’Brien, Shawn had a 25-year career with Chevron, where he held a variety of staff and management assignments in engineering, operations support, and projects. His roles included Facilities Engineer in Texas and Oklahoma, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer in the Gulf of Mexico, Instrumentation and Control Engineer for an LNG re-gasification facility project, Project Engineer for deepwater asset developments, Assurance/Interface/Risk Manager for a large deepwater project, and Engineering and Procurement Delivery Manager for Gas Turbine Generator modules and compressor packages for a field expansion project in Kazakhstan.

Since joining Baker & O’Brien in 2017, Shawn has advised clients in a wide range of EPC project disputes and insurance claims, providing testimony as an expert witness in depositions and international arbitrations. Shawn’s expertise includes electrical and instrumentation design, construction, and project commissioning related to power plants, LNG facilities, gas processing plants, and petrochemical plants.
