James Lomax is an engineering and project management professional with over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas and energy industries, spanning all phases of the project lifecycle. His expertise includes conceptual design and development, project feasibility, process engineering, technical assurance, and leading global multi-disciplinary teams. James has extensive experience in project strategy, risk, and change management, and in applying standardization to enhance consistency and efficiency across complex project portfolios.

James began his career at BP, where he spent almost 20 years managing complex energy projects worldwide. He held senior engineering, project, and program leadership roles spanning front-end development, FEED, detailed process design through completion and start-up. James has worked on oil and gas pipelines and production, green hydrogen and ammonia projects, and multi-vector mobility hubs. His expertise includes technology management, process safety management, and the development of engineering processes and governance frameworks aligned with corporate strategy.

James joined Baker & O’Brien in 2026 as a Consultant in the London office. He advises clients in the hydrocarbon process industries and renewable fuels on issues related to project feasibility, EPC, operations and safety management, and industry best practice.
