Summary of Experience

Mr. Rayne has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, overseeing facilities engineering activities for onshore and offshore field developments, with a particular focus on drilling and production systems. He has worked for major operating companies, drilling contractors, and EPC contractors on the appraisal, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of major capital projects. His expertise encompasses the design and integration of drilling and production installations, as well as mobile offshore drilling units.

John joined Baker & O’Brien from Fircroft, Inc., where he primarily focused on Chevron Deepwater Major Capital Projects. He also served in senior engineering, project management, and other technical integration roles with several engineering and production companies. His experience encompasses onshore and offshore developments globally, working on projects for several major exploration and production companies, including Chevron, Unocal, BP, ConocoPhillips, BHP Billiton, Esso, and Kerr McGee.

Since joining Baker & O’Brien, John has advised clients on project management and technical matters for the energy sector. He provides technical due diligence for oil and gas assets and infrastructure, as well as consulting services on pre-arbitration, arbitration, commercial litigation, and insurance claims. John has worked on expert assignments involving onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities, subsea equipment, pipelines, LNG power plants, and marine jetty construction. Additionally, he has worked on matters related to oil and gas exploration joint operating agreements, produced water treatment and disposal, and intellectual property.
