Civil/Structural Engineering Consultant

Baker & O’Brien is seeking candidates for a Civil/Structural Engineering Consultant role. This role will support both advisory (e.g. Lender’s Engineer, technology assessment, project feasibility, etc.) and dispute resolution work. The ideal candidate has geotechnical and structural engineering design experience and has served as project manager and/or construction manager for several major capital projects.

Preferred Work Experience includes:

  • Successful work on major EPC onshore projects in the energy sector such as: refining, chemicals and petrochemicals, LNG, gas processing, pipelines, or power plants.
  • Project Management and/or Construction Management on brownfield or greenfield projects through start-up operations and client acceptance.
  • Detailed design engineering in civil, geotechnical, and structural disciplines, preferably as a Design Lead.
  • Evaluating geotechnical conditions and designing and implementing foundations, soil stabilization, site grading and drainage based on site conditions.
  • Designing and constructing various types of structures and analyzing loads and stresses on the structural members using industry standard techniques and structural software.

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ industry experience, with a minimum of five years’ experience as a Project Manager or Construction Manager.
  • The ability to explain complex technical matters in simple-to-understand terms.
  • Open and responsive to candid feedback on deliverables.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or engineering chartership (UK) preferred.
