Summary of Experience

Richard Withers has over 30 years of experience leading the design and construction of large and complex EPC projects across the energy industry, with a recent focus on renewable energy. He has successfully created and managed multidisciplinary teams for both greenfield and brownfield projects. Richard has extensive expertise in project management across the entire project lifecycle, from initial engineering through to the Financial Investment Decision and project execution and close.

Richard started his career as a graduate engineer with Brown & Root, providing engineering and construction services for offshore projects. Over his career, Richard has developed expertise in the management and execution of major EPC project developments, including offshore oil production platforms, subsea pipelines, cables, risers and flexibles, pre-assembled units (PAUs), process modules, and floating production and offloading systems (including FPSOs). In recent years, he led world-scale offshore wind energy projects in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Since joining Baker & O’Brien, Richard has leveraged his extensive offshore experience to assist clients involved in international arbitrations involving subsea facilities and FPSOs projects. He also provides technical guidance pertaining to EPC project execution issues for clients involved in pre-arbitration matters. Richard also lends his expertise in advisory projects related to oil and gas production, power generation, and renewable power generation.
