Summary of Experience
Mr. Withers has over 30 years of experience leading and delivering large and complex EPC projects for the energy industry, with a recent focus on renewable energy. He has successfully set up and managed multidiscipline teams for high-value energy projects (greenfield and brownfield). He has extensive expertise in project delivery across the entire project lifecycle, from the conceptual stage through Financial Investment Decision (FID) to execution and project close.
Richard started his career as a Graduate Engineer with Brown & Root, providing engineering and construction services across several offshore projects. Over his career, Richard has developed the depth and breadth of his expertise in managing the execution of major EPC developments, including offshore platforms, subsea pipelines, cables, risers and flexibles, pre-assembled units (PAUs) process modules, and floating production and offloading systems (including FPSOs). In recent years, he has led world-scale offshore wind energy projects in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
Since joining Baker & O’Brien, Richard has focused on arbitrations involving subsea facilities and Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSOs). He has also provided strategic support to clients in pre-arbitration matters related to EPC project execution.
