Baker & O’Brien was delighted to partner with Reed Smith to host an event for legal and business professionals across the energy industry, "From Wellhead to Plastic: Bag: Exploring the Oil & Gas Value Chain," at the Houston Museum of Natural Science on July 20.

The program began with Luis Rey leading an interactive presentation. The session provided an overview of the technical and operational aspects of the oil and gas industry, including the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, and demonstrated how these interconnected segments transform natural resources into the fuels, chemicals, and everyday products that support modern life.

Building on Luis’s foundation, Reed Smith partners Will Russell and Jason Newman provided commentary on the legal and commercial considerations across the sector. Drawing on their experience advising clients throughout the energy sector, they discussed how legal issues intersect with technical operations and explored the opportunities, risks, and evolving business challenges companies face at each stage.
